About Ben Risinger


Ben Risinger has more than 20 years experience in the media, marketing and public relations industries and moved to Grand Rapids, MI in 2013. He is an award-winning practitioner who has been published in Ragan’s PR Daily, Ragan’s Healthcare Daily, PR News, Public Relations Society of America and more. Risinger currently consults with clients both large and small and is also an adjunct communications and digital media professor at Davenport University (Grand Rapids, MI) and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.


Ben is the former Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Imaging Office Systems, a technology company based out of Indiana from 2021-2019. From 2013-2019 he was the New Media and
Community Relations specialist at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital. While at the hospital in 2019 he was chosen as outstanding intern supervisor of the year for Grand Valley State University for leading the communications interns at the hospital.

Before coming to West Michigan Risinger served as Founder/On-Air Personality of DoItIndy (television segment on Fox 59 WXIN, Indianapolis) and co-owned a communications agency,

Somnium Media. In 2012, Risinger was honored as one of Indy’s “Best and Brightest, in the media and entertainment category. He was also chosen as one of the Top 100 public relations professionals to work in social media in 2013 by Sparkah.com/Forbes magazine. Risinger has spoken at more than 50 regional and national events in the public relations, marketing and digital media realm. He has worked for small businesses to medium sized business to Fortune 500 companies in consulting work for digital media and public relations. 

In his free time he enjoys teaching, competitive swimming and the gym, music (#311unity), being a fanboy, reading comic books, a new found love for plants, volunteering, and exploring trails and outdoor life in Michigan and beyond.
